Benefits Of Thermal ID Card Printing Technology

Plastic cards are used in many industries for a wide range of purposes. For instance, you can use membership cards to offer discounts and other deals to loyal customers.

ACB Ltd uses thermal printing technologies to print virtually anything on the front and back of cards.

How does a thermal ID card printer work?

The most common thermal printer is the direct-to-card printer. The process starts by loading a ribbon into the printer. Next, the ribbon passes below a print head that warms it up using heat. When the right temperature is achieved, ink is deposited onto the plastic card through dye sublimation.

Two spools control the printer ribbon. They allow the ribbon to pass over the plastic card several times until the whole design is printed. Finally, the printer ejects the card.

The print quality in most direct-to-card printers is 300-600 dpi (dots-per-inch) and these machines can generate more than 16.1 million colours. Thermal ID card printing offers the following advantages:

A quick turnaround time. You can get your cards 24 hours after making your order.

Great for printing onto various cards such as membership cards, photo ID cards, gift cards and loyalty cards.
